Refreshing iced matcha latte crowned with silky vanilla cold foam—quick, elegant drink for Mother's Day.

# What You Need:

→ Matcha Latte

01 - 2 teaspoons high-quality matcha green tea powder
02 - 1/2 cup hot water (approximately 175–176°F)
03 - 1 cup cold milk or dairy-free alternative
04 - 1 to 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup, optional
05 - Ice cubes, as needed

→ Vanilla Cold Foam

06 - 1/2 cup cold heavy cream
07 - 1/2 cup cold milk or dairy-free creamer
08 - 1 tablespoon vanilla syrup

# How-To Steps:

01 - Sift matcha into a small bowl to remove lumps. Add the hot water and whisk briskly in an M motion with a bamboo whisk or small metal whisk until fully dissolved and a fine froth forms on the surface.
02 - If using sweetener, stir 1 to 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup into the warm matcha, tasting and adjusting to preference.
03 - Fill two tall glasses with ice cubes, then divide 1 cup cold milk evenly between the glasses.
04 - Combine 1/2 cup cold heavy cream, 1/2 cup cold milk (or dairy-free creamer) and 1 tablespoon vanilla syrup in a chilled bowl or frother. Froth with a milk frother or whisk vigorously by hand until the mixture is thick, velvety and has roughly doubled in volume.
05 - Slowly pour the prepared matcha over the milk in each glass to create a layered effect, pouring gently over the back of a spoon if desired.
06 - Spoon the vanilla cold foam generously over each glass, garnish if desired, and serve immediately with a straw.

# Expert Suggestions:

01 -
  • The vanilla cold foam melts into the matcha, making each sip taste like a treat from a fancy café.
  • It’s endlessly customizable: my vegan friend loved hers with oat milk and maple syrup, and it still tasted just as rich.
02 -
  • Trying to froth warm cream will leave you with a sad, soupy mess—always start with everything cold for proper foam.
  • Once, I rushed and forgot to sift the matcha; it left bitter lumps that nobody at the table would let me live down.
03 -
  • Use filtered water for your matcha to keep the flavor clean and vibrant—tap water can make it dull.
  • If you want espresso-bar foam, chill your mixing bowl and whisk first; it truly makes a difference in the texture.
